If you're having a new mattress delivered, California law requires your retailer to offer to take back your old mattress at no additional cost. The retailer has up to 30 days to take back your old mattress, and they can turn it down if it's a health or safety risk. Worth asking before you pay anyone — including us — to haul it away.

Can you take a mattress to the landfill near Anaheim?
Olinda Landfill in Brea is the nearest landfill, but its page doesn't say whether it takes mattresses — its gate rate is fees will apply if mattresses and box springs are brought in with other items.
