2. Buying a new mattress? The shop has to take the old one

   If you're having a new mattress delivered, California law requires your retailer to offer to take back your old mattress at no additional cost. The retailer has up to 30 days to take back your old mattress, and they can turn it down if it's a health or safety risk. Worth asking before you pay anyone — including us — to haul it away.

4. Can you take a mattress to the landfill near Salinas?

   You can, but check the price first — it is usually more than a pickup costs. Johnson Canyon Landfill & Recycling Center in Gonzales does take mattresses — FREE. Mattresses and Box Springs (11 or more or unacceptable condition) $ 5.00 Each. Either way you need a truck and the drive out to Gonzales, and a pickup from us is $89 and comes to you.
