Mattress removal in Walnut Creek, CA

Booking takes about a minute. Pick your items and a pickup day, put the mattress out that morning, and we'll load it and take it away. Most of our Walnut Creek pickups are curbside, so there's nothing to wrap and no trip to make.

From there it goes to our local recycling facility, where our team takes it apart by hand. The foam gets baled for carpet padding, the steel springs go to scrap processors, and box-spring wood gets chipped. Here's the whole process if you want to see it.

How it works

  1. Book online.

Pick your items and a pickup day. Takes about a minute, and you see the price before you confirm.

  2. Put it at the curb.

Leave it out on your pickup day. No bagging, no wrapping, no plastic required.

  3. We arrive.

Our team shows up in your window and texts you when they're about thirty minutes out.

  4. We recycle it.

Your mattress goes to our local recycling facility and gets taken apart by hand. You'll get a confirmation once it's done.

Walnut Creek and California mattress disposal rules

Booking with us? You can skip this part. Everything below is for handling it yourself — Walnut Creek's rules, the fees and the drop-off options. If we're doing the pickup, the regulations and the recycling are ours to deal with: you leave it at the curb and we take it from there.

  1. California already paid for your mattress to be recycled

California is one of four states with a mattress recycling law, and you paid into it when you bought the mattress — $18.00 per unit on every mattress and box spring sold in the state. That's what makes drop-off free: in the program's own words, "drop off your old mattress at no additional cost at participating locations".

Mattress Recycling Council — California · the California recycling fee

  2. Buying a new mattress? The shop has to take the old one

If you're having a new mattress delivered, California law requires your retailer to offer to take back your old mattress at no additional cost. The retailer has up to 30 days to take back your old mattress, and they can turn it down if it's a health or safety risk. Worth asking before you pay anyone — including us — to haul it away.

  3. What Walnut Creek asks for if you use city pickup

These are Republic Services' requirements, not ours — they apply if you're putting the mattress out for the city rather than booking a pickup with us.

    • No items larger than 4 feet long and 24 inches in diameter or bags or items that weigh more than 50 pounds each.
    • Place items at curb by 6:00 a.m.
    • Maximum cleanup volume is 2 cubic yards or fourteen 32-gallon bags.
    • On what they won't take at the curb: these items are NOT accepted on Cleanup Day • No Household Electronics • No Recyclables • No Appliances • No Car Parts • No Large Furniture • No Mattresses.
