Booking with us? You can skip this part. Everything below is for handling it yourself — Pearl City's rules, the fees and the drop-off options. If we're doing the pickup, the regulations and the recycling are ours to deal with: you leave it at the curb and we take it from there.

  1. What Pearl City asks for if you use city pickup

    These are City and County of Honolulu Department of Environmental Services' requirements, not ours — they apply if you're putting the mattress out for the city rather than booking a pickup with us.

    • Follow size and weight restrictions: 6 foot and 60 pound maximum for long items and bundles.
    • Put items out for collection no earlier than 6:00 p.m. the evening before your scheduled appointment day. Items must be curbside by 6:00 a.m. on your appointment day to ensure pickup.
    • Where to put it: do not block sidewalks, driveways, drain inlets or roadways. Please note, city crews will not enter private property to retrieve bulky items scheduled for pick up.
    • You get up to five (5) bulky waste items and two (2) metal appliances per separate appliance appointment per address.
    • Refuse Inspectors will be dispatched to ensure the public is properly following the new bulky item collection program rules and procedures.

Household trash, combustible bulky items, metal/metal containing items, and lead acid batteries. Call (808) 768-4884 before you load up. You'll need a truck or a van, and you do the loading.
