1. What Bloomington asks for if you use city pickup

   These are City of Bloomington Public Works' requirements, not ours — they apply if you're putting the mattress out for the city rather than booking a pickup with us.

   • A permit may be required for remodeling debris.
   • Materials must be placed in the parkway or at the end of the driveway near the street no earlier than 2 p.m. on the day prior to scheduled pickup and no later than 6 a.m. on the day of pickup.
   • Where to put it: materials must be in separate piles, at least 4 feet from any objects that would get in the way of curbside pickup, and at least 10 feet away from vehicles parked in the street.
   • Second and subsequent loader buckets on same week: $30 per loader bucket.
   • Their accepted list is includes furniture, items of waste generated by cleaning out a house (not including food), and basement, interior, and exterior remodeling debris — it doesn't name mattresses either way, so ask before you put one out.
   • On what they won't take at the curb: commercial waste is not acceptable.
