Mattress removal in Covington, KY

Booking takes about a minute. Pick your items and a pickup day, put the mattress out that morning, and we'll load it and take it away. Most of our Covington pickups are curbside, so there's nothing to wrap and no trip to make.

From there it goes to our local recycling facility, where our team takes it apart by hand. The foam gets baled for carpet padding, the steel springs go to scrap processors, and box-spring wood gets chipped. Here's the whole process if you want to see it.

Covington and Kentucky mattress disposal rules

Booking with us? You can skip this part. Everything below is for handling it yourself — Covington's rules, the fees and the drop-off options. If we're doing the pickup, the regulations and the recycling are ours to deal with: you leave it at the curb and we take it from there.

  1. What Covington asks for if you use city pickup

These are Rumpke Waste & Recycling's requirements, not ours — they apply if you're putting the mattress out for the city rather than booking a pickup with us.

    • Mattresses and upholstered furniture must be wrapped in plastic and sealed.
    • Your trash cart should be set out at the curb no earlier than 6 p.m. the evening before collection day and no later than 6 a.m. on collection day.
    • Residents can set out one separate “bulk item” a week.
    • On what they won't take at the curb: tires. Batteries. Hazardous liquids. Loose trash and debris. Combustible and hazardous materials. Rocks, dirt and construction debris. Appliances still containing Freon. Fluorescent bulbs and ballasts.

  2. Can you take a mattress to the landfill near Covington?

Bavarian in Walton is the nearest landfill, but its page doesn't say whether it takes mattresses — its gate rate is mattresses & Boxsprings $10 each. Call before you load up. Either way you need a truck and the drive out to Walton, and a pickup from us is $89 and comes to you.
