Mattress removal in Shreveport, LA

Booking takes about a minute. Pick your items and a pickup day, put the mattress out that morning, and we'll load it and take it away. Most of our Shreveport pickups are curbside, so there's nothing to wrap and no trip to make.

From there it goes to our local recycling facility, where our team takes it apart by hand. The foam gets baled for carpet padding, the steel springs go to scrap processors, and box-spring wood gets chipped. Here's the whole process if you want to see it.

Shreveport and Louisiana mattress disposal rules

Booking with us? You can skip this part. Everything below is for handling it yourself — Shreveport's rules, the fees and the drop-off options. If we're doing the pickup, the regulations and the recycling are ours to deal with: you leave it at the curb and we take it from there.

  1. What Shreveport asks for if you use city pickup

These are Public Works Department's requirements, not ours — they apply if you're putting the mattress out for the city rather than booking a pickup with us.

    • Public Works Department says: “We do not pick up bulk items from vacant lots or commercial properties”.
    • Where to put it: bulky items must be 5ft away from garbage carts, mailboxes, fences, telephone poles, parked cars or away from low hanging tree limbs or power lines.
    • 1 pile per request and the pile must not be larger than (L) 15ft x (W) 6ft x (H) 6ft.
    • Their accepted list is furniture, appliances, and tires may be placed curbside at the time you make your request. — it doesn't name mattresses either way, so ask before you put one out.
    • On what they won't take at the curb: No Building materials, i.e., toilets, carpet, flooring, tile, countertops, cabinets, fencing, concrete, rocks, stones, etc. No Gasoline powered tools, auto parts. No Pianos, organs, swing or gym sets, trampolines, swimming pools and covers. No Stumps / roots.

  2. Can you take a mattress to the landfill near Shreveport?

Woolworth Road Landfill in Keithville is the nearest landfill, but its page doesn't say whether it takes mattresses — its gate rate is shreveport and Caddo Parish Residents (residential waste only) - $0.00. Call before you load up. All incoming waste will be weighed at the scale house, and the type and quantity of waste is recorded. Either way you need a truck and the drive out to Keithville, and a pickup from us is $89 and comes to you.

What Public Works Department says about collection

Items for our Bulk Collection Program will be picked up on a future collection day. Each resident will be responsible for making a request by calling our Public Works Department at 318-673-6300 or use using our online feature Report A Concern to report the need for collection. Their page doesn't say whether a mattress counts as an accepted item, so check before you put one out.
