Mattress removal in Cambridge, MA

Booking takes about a minute. Pick your items and a pickup day, put the mattress out that morning, and we'll load it and take it away. Most of our Cambridge pickups are curbside, so there's nothing to wrap and no trip to make.

From there it goes to our local recycling facility, where our team takes it apart by hand. The foam gets baled for carpet padding, the steel springs go to scrap processors, and box-spring wood gets chipped. Here's the whole process if you want to see it.

How it works

  1. Book online.

Pick your items and a pickup day. Takes about a minute, and you see the price before you confirm.

  2. Put it at the curb.

Leave it out on your pickup day. No bagging, no wrapping, no plastic required.

  3. We arrive.

Our team shows up in your window and texts you when they're about thirty minutes out.

  4. We recycle it.

Your mattress goes to our local recycling facility and gets taken apart by hand. You'll get a confirmation once it's done.

Cambridge and Massachusetts mattress disposal rules

Booking with us? You can skip this part. Everything below is for handling it yourself — Cambridge's rules, the fees and the drop-off options. If we're doing the pickup, the regulations and the recycling are ours to deal with: you leave it at the curb and we take it from there.

  1. What Cambridge asks for if you use city pickup

These are UTEC's requirements, not ours — they apply if you're putting the mattress out for the city rather than booking a pickup with us.

    • Do not place the item at the curb earlier than 6PM the day before your collection.
    • Your items must be placed at the curb in front of your address by 7AM the morning of the collection.
    • Where to put it: the crew is prohibited from coming onto private property to pick up mattresses.
    • Mattress and box springs are prohibited from disposal as trash in Massachusetts.
    • Please schedule in advance as slots fill up quickly.
    • Their accepted list is most mattresses and box springs are accepted. — it doesn't name mattresses either way, so ask before you put one out.
    • On what they won't take at the curb: excessively torn, punctured, soiled or moldy items; Items infested (or previously infested) with bed bugs or other pests; Futons, mattress pads or toppers; or Infant sleeping pads; air or water beds; any other furniture or textiles.

The city's own pages disagree on this one. One says there is a $45 fee for each mattress and box spring; the City's Furniture, Appliance, Large Item Disposal page says visit cambridgema.gov/mattress to schedule your free mattress or box spring collection. Worth the phone call before you put it out. the second page
