Mattress removal in Grand Rapids, MI

Booking takes about a minute. Pick your items and a pickup day, put the mattress out that morning, and we'll load it and take it away. Most of our Grand Rapids pickups are curbside, so there's nothing to wrap and no trip to make.

From there it goes to our local recycling facility, where our team takes it apart by hand. The foam gets baled for carpet padding, the steel springs go to scrap processors, and box-spring wood gets chipped. Here's the whole process if you want to see it.

How it works

  3. We arrive.

Grand Rapids and Michigan mattress disposal rules

Booking with us? You can skip this part. Everything below is for handling it yourself — Grand Rapids's rules, the fees and the drop-off options. If we're doing the pickup, the regulations and the recycling are ours to deal with: you leave it at the curb and we take it from there.

  1. What Grand Rapids asks for if you use city pickup

These are City of Grand Rapids' requirements, not ours — they apply if you're putting the mattress out for the city rather than booking a pickup with us.

    • Mattresses and box springs together only require ONE sticker.
    • Place the bulky item(s) at the curb by 7:00 a.m. the following business day.
    • Where to put it: the maximum size of any one item is 6 ft. x 5 ft., anything larger will not fit in the truck and can't be collected.
    • Any large item placed at the curb without a sticker will not be collected and the property owner may receive a violation.
    • On what they won't take at the curb: televisions of any kind are NOT collected curbside.

South Kent Recycling & Waste Center in Byron Center is the nearest landfill, but its page doesn't say whether it takes mattresses. Call before you load up. Closing times are exact. Either way you need a truck and the drive out to Byron Center, and a pickup from us is $89 and comes to you.
