What New York City asks for if you use city pickup
These are Department of Sanitation (DSNY)'s requirements, not ours — they apply if you're putting the mattress out for the city rather than booking a pickup with us.
- Any mattress or box spring put out for bulk collection must be sealed in a plastic bag.
- Place your bulk items curbside between 6 PM and midnight the night before your collection day.
- Where to put it: bulk items placed out for collection must not be placed in the street, extend in front of another property, or impede pedestrian traffic.
- You can put out up to 6 bulk items per collection day.
We can't tell you this one. New York City's own pages give 3 different answers: Furniture and Mattresses says if you do not dispose of a mattress or box spring correctly, you may be fined up to $300; Bulk Item Disposal says items not properly disposed of will not be collected and may result in a $100 fine; Mattress or Box Spring Disposal says $50 for the first offense.
