Mattress removal in Parma, OH

Booking takes about a minute. Pick your items and a pickup day, put the mattress out that morning, and we'll load it and take it away. Most of our Parma pickups are curbside, so there's nothing to wrap and no trip to make.

From there it goes to our local recycling facility, where our team takes it apart by hand. The foam gets baled for carpet padding, the steel springs go to scrap processors, and box-spring wood gets chipped. Here's the whole process if you want to see it.

Parma and Ohio mattress disposal rules

Booking with us? You can skip this part. Everything below is for handling it yourself — Parma's rules, the fees and the drop-off options. If we're doing the pickup, the regulations and the recycling are ours to deal with: you leave it at the curb and we take it from there.

  1. What Parma asks for if you use city pickup

These are Rumpke's requirements, not ours — they apply if you're putting the mattress out for the city rather than booking a pickup with us.

    • Rumpke requires discarded mattresses, box springs and upholstered furniture such as sofas to be wrapped in sealable plastic.
    • Place refuse, yard waste or bulk trash within three feet of the curb by 7 am.
    • Where to put it: large cardboard boxes that do not fit in the carts must be broken down, folded and placed next to the cart on the tree lawn.
    • If needed, a resident can put out six extra bags (plastic or paper) or three extra 32-gallon garbage cans of waste.
    • On what they won't take at the curb: batteries, oil-based paints, motor oil, scrap tires, pool chemicals, propane tanks, hot ashes, large car parts or syringes should not be put in the carts.

What Rumpke says about collection

Residents can have their bulk garbage picked up on their weekly rubbish days. Parma Ordinance Number 131-16 allows for the collection of a rubbish pickup fee collected through Cuyahoga County Fiscal Office. It does name mattresses.
