Mattress removal in Gahanna, OH

Booking takes about a minute. Pick your items and a pickup day, put the mattress out that morning, and we'll load it and take it away. Most of our Gahanna pickups are curbside, so there's nothing to wrap and no trip to make.

From there it goes to our local recycling facility, where our team takes it apart by hand. The foam gets baled for carpet padding, the steel springs go to scrap processors, and box-spring wood gets chipped. Here's the whole process if you want to see it.

Gahanna and Ohio mattress disposal rules

Booking with us? You can skip this part. Everything below is for handling it yourself — Gahanna's rules, the fees and the drop-off options. If we're doing the pickup, the regulations and the recycling are ours to deal with: you leave it at the curb and we take it from there.

  1. What Gahanna asks for if you use city pickup

These are Local Waste Services Ltd.'s requirements, not ours — they apply if you're putting the mattress out for the city rather than booking a pickup with us.

    • Any upholstered items (including mattresses and box springs) must be wrapped in plastic.
    • Place all containers at the curb or designated location by 6 am the day of collection but no earlier than 5 pm the day before.
    • Where to put it: residents with carryout service must place all bulk items at the curb.
    • Trash considered to be a move-out pile will not be collected and may be subject to additional fees for collection.
    • Each bag or container must weigh less than 50 pounds.
    • On what they won't take at the curb: appliances containing freon (refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners), lead-acid batteries (car and motorcycle batteries), liquid waste (including used motor oil and oil-based paint), tires, yard waste, explosive items, radioactive waste and other materials that could be dangerous to the workers collecting your trash.

  2. Can you take a mattress to the landfill near Gahanna?

Franklin County Sanitary Landfill in Grove City is the nearest landfill, but its page doesn't say whether it takes mattresses — its gate rate is $39.75 per ton (Direct-Haul, In-District Solid Waste). Call before you load up. All trucks and trailer loads must be fully tarped before entering any SWACO disposal facility. Either way you need a truck and the drive out to Grove City, and a pickup from us is $89 and comes to you.
