Mattress removal in Westerville, OH

Booking takes about a minute. Pick your items and a pickup day, put the mattress out that morning, and we'll load it and take it away. Most of our Westerville pickups are curbside, so there's nothing to wrap and no trip to make.

From there it goes to our local recycling facility, where our team takes it apart by hand. The foam gets baled for carpet padding, the steel springs go to scrap processors, and box-spring wood gets chipped. Here's the whole process if you want to see it.

How it works

Westerville and Ohio mattress disposal rules

Booking with us? You can skip this part. Everything below is for handling it yourself — Westerville's rules, the fees and the drop-off options. If we're doing the pickup, the regulations and the recycling are ours to deal with: you leave it at the curb and we take it from there.

  1. What Westerville asks for if you use city pickup

These are Westerville's requirements, not ours — they apply if you're putting the mattress out for the city rather than booking a pickup with us.

    • Place in disposal bags or wrapped in heavy plastic & securely taped.
    • On what they won't take at the curb: no private contractor construction debris is accepted.

  2. Can you take a mattress to the landfill near Westerville?

Franklin County Sanitary Landfill in Grove City is the nearest landfill, but its page doesn't say whether it takes mattresses — its gate rate is $39.75 per ton (Direct-Haul, In-District Solid Waste). Call before you load up. All trucks and trailer loads must be fully tarped before entering any SWACO disposal facility. Either way you need a truck and the drive out to Grove City, and a pickup from us is $89 and comes to you.

What Westerville says about collection

These items should be placed at the curb in neat, manageable piles on your regular scheduled trash day. Please contact the Department of Public Service with any questions about bulk items at 614-901-6740 or by email to publicservice@westerville.org. Items not considered normal household trash (bulk items) may be disposed of along with normal garbage. It does name mattresses.
