   Oregon is one of four states with a mattress recycling law, and you paid into it when you bought the mattress — $22.50 per unit on every mattress and box spring sold in the state. That's what makes drop-off free: in the program's own words, "mattresses and box springs in any condition, no matter when purchased, can be dropped off for free at a participating collection site or event". 2. Buying a new mattress? Ask the shop to take the old one

   When your new mattress is delivered, ask your retailer if they will take back your old one — this may be provided at little to no charge depending on the retailer's policies. Unlike California, Oregon doesn't require them to, so it's worth asking before you pay anyone — including us — to haul it away.

3. Can you take a mattress to the landfill near Albany?

   Coffin Butte Landfill in Corvallis is the nearest landfill, but its page doesn't say whether it takes mattresses — its gate rate is $130.00/Ton. Call before you load up. Make sure to properly cover your load before transporting it to Coffin Butte Landfill. Improperly covered and secured loads will be assessed an additional $10 fee. Either way you need a truck and the drive out to Corvallis, and a pickup from us is $89 and comes to you.
