Mattress removal in Lancaster, PA

Booking takes about a minute. Pick your items and a pickup day, put the mattress out that morning, and we'll load it and take it away. Most of our Lancaster pickups are curbside, so there's nothing to wrap and no trip to make.

From there it goes to our local recycling facility, where our team takes it apart by hand. The foam gets baled for carpet padding, the steel springs go to scrap processors, and box-spring wood gets chipped. Here's the whole process if you want to see it.

How it works

Lancaster and Pennsylvania mattress disposal rules

Booking with us? You can skip this part. Everything below is for handling it yourself — Lancaster's rules, the fees and the drop-off options. If we're doing the pickup, the regulations and the recycling are ours to deal with: you leave it at the curb and we take it from there.

  1. What Lancaster asks for if you use city pickup

These are City of Lancaster's requirements, not ours — they apply if you're putting the mattress out for the city rather than booking a pickup with us.

    • Trash and recycling containers shall be set out after 6 p.m. the evening before collection, and removed by 8 p.m. the day of collection.
    • Where to put it: an oversized item can be no heavier than what two men can lift and load into a trash truck.
    • Up to six 32 gallon/30 pound bags of trash will be collected from each household per week.
    • On what they won't take at the curb: these are large appliances including: refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, water coolers, clothes washers and dryers, water heaters, and microwaves. These will not be collected with weekly trash.

  2. Can you take a mattress to the landfill near Lancaster?

Frey Farm Landfill in Conestoga is the nearest landfill, but its page doesn't say whether it takes mattresses. Call before you load up. All loads delivered to the Frey Farm Landfill must be tarped. Either way you need a truck and the drive out to Conestoga, and a pickup from us is $89 and comes to you.

What City of Lancaster says about collection

The weekly collection program allows each residential unit to set out one oversized item each week, which then limits the set out to four trash containers for that week. It does name mattresses.
