These are City of Memphis Solid Waste Division's requirements, not ours — they apply if you're putting the mattress out for the city rather than booking a pickup with us.
- Bulky waste piles must not exceed 10 cubic yards in total volume.
- Place bulky item piles within three (3) feet of the street.
- Where to put it: do not place bulky item piles near mailboxes, parked cars, fences, trees, and low-hanging tree limbs.
- Do not place material at the curb after crews have passed by your house.
- On what they won't take at the curb, City of Memphis Solid Waste Division says: "City ordinance prohibits us from removing dirt, brick, rock, concrete, scrap, lumber, roofing, fencing materials, carpet or any other debris generated as a result of construction or demolition."

Can you take a mattress to the landfill near Memphis?
Republic Services North Shelby Landfill in Millington is the nearest landfill, but its page doesn't say whether it takes mattresses. Call before you load up. Residential solid waste customers can take one truckload of non-hazardous waste to the landfill each month. Either way you need a truck and the drive out to Millington, and a pickup from us is $89 and comes to you.
