Mattress removal in Austin, TX

Booking takes about a minute. Pick your items and a pickup day, put the mattress out that morning, and we'll load it and take it away. Most of our Austin pickups are curbside, so there's nothing to wrap and no trip to make.

From there it goes to our local recycling facility, where our team takes it apart by hand. The foam gets baled for carpet padding, the steel springs go to scrap processors, and box-spring wood gets chipped. Here's the whole process if you want to see it.

How it works

  1. Book online.

Pick your items and a pickup day. Takes about a minute, and you see the price before you confirm.

  3. We arrive.

Our team shows up in your window and texts you when they're about thirty minutes out.

Austin and Texas mattress disposal rules

Booking with us? You can skip this part. Everything below is for handling it yourself — Austin's rules, the fees and the drop-off options. If we're doing the pickup, the regulations and the recycling are ours to deal with: you leave it at the curb and we take it from there.

  1. What Austin asks for if you use city pickup

These are Austin Resource Recovery's requirements, not ours — they apply if you're putting the mattress out for the city rather than booking a pickup with us.

    • Do not put items in bags, boxes or other containers.
    • Place bulk items at the curb by 5:30 a.m. on your appointment date.
    • Where to put it: keep items 5 feet away from your carts, mailbox, fences or walls, water meter, telephone and electrical connection box, fire hydrants and parked cars.
    • Items will not be collected if they are in an alley, in front of a vacant lot, or in front of a business.
    • Appointments are required for collection — items will not be picked up without one.
    • Their accepted list is appliances (remove doors) Carpet (household) Doors Furniture Lawn mowers (remove gas/oil) Nail-free lumber Pallets Passenger car tires (remove rims; limit 8 tires per household) Railroad ties (cut in half) Rolled fencing — it doesn't name mattresses either way, so ask before you put one out.
    • On what they won't take at the curb: automotive chassis and bodies Boats Brush Cardboard boxes Carpet (from construction/demolition) Hazardous materials Household trash Mirrors Motorcycles Sheet glass and other construction and remodeling debris Tile (whole or broken) Tires that are still mounted on rims Trailers.

What Austin Resource Recovery says about collection

Customers can schedule up to three collections for each service each calendar year. You can schedule a collection for your address through the Austin Recycles app, online or by calling Austin 3-1-1 (512-974-2000). Their page doesn't say whether a mattress counts as an accepted item, so check before you put one out.
