Mattress removal in Springfield, VA

Booking takes about a minute. Pick your items and a pickup day, put the mattress out that morning, and we'll load it and take it away. Most of our Springfield pickups are curbside, so there's nothing to wrap and no trip to make.

From there it goes to our local recycling facility, where our team takes it apart by hand. The foam gets baled for carpet padding, the steel springs go to scrap processors, and box-spring wood gets chipped. Here's the whole process if you want to see it.

How it works

  1. Book online.

Pick your items and a pickup day. Takes about a minute, and you see the price before you confirm.

  3. We arrive.

Our team shows up in your window and texts you when they're about thirty minutes out.

Springfield and Virginia mattress disposal rules

Booking with us? You can skip this part. Everything below is for handling it yourself — Springfield's rules, the fees and the drop-off options. If we're doing the pickup, the regulations and the recycling are ours to deal with: you leave it at the curb and we take it from there.

  1. What Springfield asks for if you use city pickup

These are Fairfax County Government's requirements, not ours — they apply if you're putting the mattress out for the city rather than booking a pickup with us.

    • Items must be no longer than 6 feet in length.
    • Set out items by 6 a.m. on the collection day.
    • Where to put it: there must be a 20 ft. clearance above and on all sides of special collection materials.
    • Special Pickups will be limited to 2 cubic yards, or the equivalent of 6 feet long x 3 feet wide x 3 feet high.
    • You must schedule special collections (Freon, brush/limbs, bulk, electronic waste, and metal) in advance.
    • Bulk Material (not made of metal or glass) • Furniture: sofas, chairs, tables, dressers • Lumber • Doors • Mattress & box spring • Roll of carpet 6 ft. or less • Wood pallets • Bamboo are on the accepted list, so the mattress itself is not the problem — the booking is.
    • On what they won't take at the curb: any item not on the list of accepted materials will not be collected.

The city's own pages disagree on this one. One says your service includes 5 FREE special collections per customer, per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30); Fairfax County Government says only five FREE collections, per customer, per commodity, per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30) are included in your service. Worth the phone call before you put it out. the second page

  2. Can you take a mattress to the landfill near Springfield?

I-95 Landfill Complex in Lorton is the nearest landfill, but its page doesn't say whether it takes mattresses — its gate rate is mattress and Box Spring $17. Call before you load up. Either way you need a truck and the drive out to Lorton, and a pickup from us is $89 and comes to you.
